ARC Restaurant Food & Libations

Despite what its lengthy name would suggest, this Michelin guide restaurant is definitely one hip, moody place for a great date. Friends could definitely hang out here too in small groups, but the environment is definitely more intimate, and there are couples galore. This place is DARK (darn that iPhone for adjusting the lighting), but all the more enticing to steal coquettish glances while sneaking a kiss or two, as the booths around the periphery of the restaurant offer a decent amount of privacy. Lesser known is their speakeasy counterpart, the Guild Club. However, they’ve unfortunately been closed for a while due to low turnout. I’ll have to return at some point and give my two cents

First of all, the drinks are all cleverly named. How can you resist ordering the “International Handjob”, “Two Gins One Cup”, or “The Girlfriend” which is their special that “changes daily”? I got a pretty good laugh from just the drinks menu itself. Interestingly enough, I got none of them; the bartender offered to make me something of his own creation. The drink remains unnamed, but it was a combination of gin, passion fruit, and his “special sauce” which I can only hope was the egg white it was topped off with and not probably what you’re thinking (you dirty minds you). It was delicious, and the black sea salt rim was a great finishing touch.

For the appetizer, we got the tomato and burrata which was good, but the presentation reminded me more of a caprese salad, and the serving definitely should have come with some bread (we ended up ordering some bread on the side).

For our entree, we got the Crispy Duck, which as expected of its name, was crisped to perfection! It was very flavorful and surprisingly filling despite its appearance. We did not order the steaks during this visit, but I have heard good things about the ribeye and tomahawk steak. Next time! Last but not least, we ordered their house bread pudding. It was delicious and incredibly filling, and we definitely had to take more than half of it home. Overall these plates were all easy to share, and I will definitely order more next time!

This was definitely a fun and sexy place for a romantic date, but I can also see a smaller more intimate group of friends gathering here for some drinks and snacks after work. Hopefully next time I’m back, I’ll be able to check out the Guild Club!
